After not being able to qualify for benefits, downsizing from a house to an apartment due to the cost and maintenance, and receiving a medical diagnosis that required her to become a vegetarian, Kathy finds herself at the food pantry every other Friday. While this might break the spirit of many, Kathy keeps a smile on her face, grateful for the access to fresh vegetables and produce her diet requires.
Kathy’s story can very easily turn into anyone’s story. A change in employment, a jump in expenses, there are a million things that can happen to put someone in a position of needing a helping hand. Kathy never planned on having to seek help from a food pantry, but as she said “The money just doesn’t stretch far enough.”
